Proud to Support Sweet Science Foundation: Why We Became Their Major Donor
At Domestic Repairs Ltd, we spend our days in London’s homes and communities. We see the neighbourhoods we work in up close — and we care about them. That’s why, when the opportunity came to support Sweet Science Foundation as their Major Donor, it wasn’t a difficult decision. It was an obvious one.
What is Sweet Science Foundation?
Sweet Science Foundation is a registered not-for-profit charity dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable and at-risk young people across the UK. Since 2005 — that’s 20 years of making a difference — they’ve been running a unique programme that combines non-contact boxing with mentoring to build resilience, self-control and confidence in young people who need it most.
This isn’t just about boxing. It’s about giving young people structure, purpose and the belief that they can shape their own futures. As the Frederick Douglass quote on their website puts it: “It’s better to build strong children than to repair broken adults.” That philosophy runs through everything they do.
The scale of the problem — and the impact of the solution
The statistics behind Sweet Science Foundation’s work are stark. Knife crime has surged significantly over the last decade. County lines drug operations are expanding. Young people — particularly in London — are navigating a landscape that can feel overwhelming and dangerous.
Sweet Science Foundation’s response is practical and proven. In 2024 alone, they mentored over 1,000 students across more than 20 schools in London. Their programme gives young people a healthy outlet, teaches them to manage emotions under pressure, and develops the kind of character that carries them far beyond the classroom.
Parents have spoken about children who struggled with anger and frustration finding focus and calm. Students have discovered confidence they didn’t know they had. The ripple effect of that kind of change — on families, schools and communities — is immeasurable.
A coalition worth being part of
Sweet Science Foundation’s work has earned the backing of some of the UK’s most respected institutions — the Metropolitan Police, the Mayor of London, the NHS, Sport England, the Department for Education, the World Health Organisation, Beat Bullying and more. These aren’t organisations that lend their names lightly.
We’re proud to stand alongside them as Major Donor, investing directly at grassroots level in a programme that puts prevention first.
Why this matters to us
Domestic Repairs Ltd has been serving London’s homes since 2001. Over more than two decades, we’ve built our business on trust, reliability and a genuine commitment to the communities we operate in. Supporting Sweet Science Foundation is a natural extension of those values.
We’re not just writing a cheque and moving on. We believe in what Leroy and the team at Sweet Science Foundation are building — and we want to be part of it for the long term.
How you can help
Sweet Science Foundation is currently running their ’20 for 20′ campaign, raising £20,000 to mark their 20th anniversary. Just £1,250 funds a ten-week course for an entire class. Every donation — however large or small — goes directly towards delivering their programme in London schools.
